Who’s at the door?

exploreAlthough soliciting is not illegal in The Woodlands, by following tips provided by The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch, you and your neighbors can deter solicitors from doing business in your neighborhood.

Untitled design (5)THE MOST IMPORTANT THING is to remember: never open the door to someone you do not know. Once you open the door, you could be putting yourself and your loved ones at risk. If you do not have a peephole, consider installing one.

Untitled design (5)DO NOT IGNORE A SOLICITOR. The solicitor could be ringing your doorbell as a way to determine if the house is empty and if it is a potential target for burglary.

Untitled design (5)MAKE SURE you have a “No Solicitors” decal near or on your door. Answer through the closed door that you are not interested and point to your decal. “No Solicitor” stickers are available through The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch.

Untitled design (5)IF THE SOLICITOR REFUSES to leave, state (from inside your house) “Leave my property now. If you do not, I will call the police.” Although soliciting is not illegal, trespassing is. Call law enforcement to report that there is a trespasser on your property.
