Did you know each year more than 350,000 people will suffer from sudden cardiac arrest outside of a medical facility? Every minute that someone goes without CPR, their chances of survival decreases by as much as 10 percent. Nationwide, only about 4 victims out of 10 will receive CPR from a bystander. Would you know what to do?
To raise awareness of the lifesaving value of Hands Only CPR, The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch, in collaboration with The Woodlands Fire Department, Montgomery County Hospital District, the American Heart Association and The Woodlands Township Village Associations will launch a series of Hands Only CPR, no cost to you, trainings at local fire stations throughout The Woodlands Township. These trainings are drop-in and will take only about 20 minutes. This training is not for certification purposes and will teach the hands only method without breath intervention. Training events will also include AED training, blood pressure checks and a raffle to be a “Doctor for a Day” by CHI St. Luke’s Hospital, crime prevention information presented by The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch, nutrition and heart health information presented by the American Heart Association, and information from the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
