Please read the following press release issued from Texas Department of Public Safety regarding the Move Over/Slow Down Law.
State law states that a driver must:
- Vacate the lane closest to the applicable vehicles stopped on the side of the road (if the road has multiple lanes traveling in the same direction) or
- Slow down to 20 mph below the speed limit. (If the speed limit is below 25 mph, the driver must slow down to 5 mph).
Drivers should only move over if they can do so safely and legally; otherwise, they should slow down.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying an individual believed to be responsible for three sexual assaults that have occurred at the Trailpoints Apartment complex located in the 2300 block of S. Millbend, The Woodlands.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has completed a two month investigation into 23 Burglary of Habitation cases that occurred in The Woodlands Township between December 2016 and late January 2017. On February 22, 2017, detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, along with the assistance of Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and the U. S. Marshal’s Office, executed arrests and search warrants for two suspects. Continue reading
On January 21, 2017, Deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office-Woodlands District were dispatched to a residence in the area of Sawdust Road and Sawmill Road in reference to an assault. On January 9, 2017, District 6 Deputies were dispatched to a welfare check/shooting that had occurred at an address in Harper’s Landing in The Woodlands. After being assaulted by one of two men in his backyard, the homeowner was able to retrieve his handgun and discharge a single round at the suspect. Both suspects fled through the back yard of the residence into the heavily wooded area behind the residence. It is believed that one of the suspect(s) had been shot due to the suspect dragging his leg as he ran away. Continue reading
Per the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the department received an “alarm” call on Thursday, December 8, 2016, in the Cokeberry area of Grogan’s Mill. The deputy who arrived at the scene determined that there was forced entry into the home, via an all glass side door. The residence was determined to be all clear, and the suspect(s) had left the scene. Personal items were taken. No person or vehicle description is available. Continue reading

Over the last two months, The Woodlands Township has seen an increase in Burglary of Motor Vehicle (BMV). The increase has occurred throughout the community, both during the day and nighttime hours. Both the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, District 6, and Harris County Constable, Precinct 4, have increased patrol efforts in vulnerable areas. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is issuing a warning to the public regarding a scam that has again surfaced locally in which the caller claims to be a representative from a local or surrounding law enforcement entity.
Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division were recently dispatched to several different criminal mischief calls at residences in the Village of Sterling Ridge. Due to residents immediately notifying law enforcement, deputies were able to locate and arrest two suspects on the charge of burglary of a habitation.
